Drive In Rack Storage System
Drive in racking, also known as through shelving, is a high-density storage solution designed for pallet storage where goods are stored sequentially from the inside out. Forklifts utilize the same channel for both storage and retrieval operations, maximizing space utilization in warehouse environments.
Structural Design & Operation
The distinctive structural characteristic of drive in racks is their column and suspension rail design, with crossbeams typically only at the top level. Unlike conventional shelving systems that feature crossbeams at every level, this unique configuration allows for deeper storage channels and higher storage capacity.
Operation involves forklifts entering the storage channel to place pallets at the innermost position first, then working outward sequentially. Retrieval follows the same pattern, starting from the outermost pallets and moving inward. This non-gravity-based system ensures pallets remain stationary in their storage positions, providing exceptional structural stability and durability.
